Day 1: Shipley Middle School departure to Newark, NJ airport.
overnight flight to Rome, then south to Reggio Calabria!
Shipley's Gator "Waldo" enjoyed the flight--he slept; then he had a front row seat in Fabio's purple bus; and he really enjoyed the pizza; and would have loved the Riace Bronzes but he was in a backpack...he's napping now. where will he be next?

P.S. We all arrived safely and our first hotel is lovely; all are good troopers who have already tasted "la dolce vita" (gelati, that is) and hearth-baked pizza, and fabulous art!
